How to Password Protect or Unlock PDF Files

Upload the PDF document you want to secure or decrypt.
2Choose Action (Lock or Unlock)
Select "Lock PDF" to add passwords or "Unlock PDF" to remove existing security.

Set User and Owner passwords, and toggle granular permissions (printing, copying, editing).

User Password: Sets the password required by viewers to open and read the document.
Owner / Master Password: Sets the administrative password required to change security settings.
Allow Printing (High / Low Res): Controls whether recipients are permitted to print the document.
Allow Copying Text & Graphics: Prevents unauthorized copying or scraping of text and images.

A User Password restricts opening/viewing the document. An Owner Password allows users to view the PDF but enforces granular restrictions (such as disabling text selection, printing, or form editing) unless the Owner password is supplied.

Yes. In the permissions matrix, you can check "Allow Form Filling" while unchecking "Allow Printing" and "Allow Copying Text & Graphics".

No legitimate tool can break standard AES-256 encryption without the key. Decryption requires providing the correct existing User or Owner password to remove the security wrapper.
